Earth Hour? What Earth Hour! Rock & Roots keep lights on!
Timbre Timbre Rock & Roots is a two-day evening festival held on 26 & 27 March 2010 at the Marina Promenade featuring a host of world-class musicians, Grammy Awards winners and nominees. Here's my video taken on the night of 27 March, during Earth Hour. Yup, the lights may have gone out in Singapore for Earth Hour, but it's full lights on and music for Rock & Roots. Earth Hour or not, the show must go on!
Sony Bloggie MHS-PM5K is a fun camera for bloggers
The Bloggie MHS-PM5K is a new pocket-sized Mobile HD Snap Camera from Sony. It can shoot 5.0 mega pixel photos and up to 1920 x 1080 full HD movies.
Here's the Bloggie's On/Off button, zoom lever (digital zoom only) and the Jack cover which reveals the USB for charging.
On the other side, you'll find the memory card and battery compartment. The Bloggie supports Memory Stick and SDHC/SD memory cards.
The Bloggie has a 270 degrees rotating lens and comes with a 360 video lens which you can snap on to the Bloggie to take 360 degree panoramas. Your footage will be converted into a long strip of video showing all 360 degree angles with the supplied software. See the video below.
Here's a video taken with the Bloggie. The video quality isn't great. There's no optical zoom but the digital zoom is just about acceptable. And the video keeps flickering for no apparent reason. It could be there's a fault with the Bloggie I received from Sony.
And here's one using the 360 video lens which is my favourite feature of the Bloggie. Check out the video. It's really cool!
The Bloggie MHS-PM5K is available in Violet, White, Blue and Pink and costs around S$399.

Take a look inside Hello Kitty's body
Hello Kitty anatomy by Jason Freeny is proof that Hello Kitty is indeed a strange creature. Despite no obvious mouth/lips, the cross section of her body shows that she has a mouth buried under her skin. She even has a set of teeth! Bizarre indeed.

No fake boobies. We want real bouncy breasts!
Calling all ladies with real boobies. Disney wants women with natural breasts for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movies starring Johnny Depp. The bouncier, the better! From New York Post:
The filmmakers sent out a casting call last week seeking "beautiful female fit models. Must be 5ft7in-5ft8in, size 4 or 6, no bigger or smaller. Age 18-25. Must have a lean dancer body. Must have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants."
And they warn that there'll be a "show and tell" day.
To make sure LA talent scouts don't get caught in a "booby trap," potential lassies will have to undergo a Hollywood-style jiggle-your-jugs test and jog for judges. If there's nothing moving from the waist up, they're saying, it's a dead giveaway that you're not all flesh and bones -- and you're out.
An Open Letter to PM Lee
Jean-François Julliard, the Secretary-General of Reporters Without Borders, writes an open letter to PM Lee Hsien Loong. And no, he's not inviting PM Lee to his birthday party. From Reporters Without Borders:
Reporters Without Borders condemns the judicial harassment which you and your father have practiced for years in order to prevent foreign news media from taking too close an interest in how you run your country. It does serious and lasting harm to press freedom in Singapore...
In response to the publication of the Reporters Without Borders 2009 press freedom index, in which Singapore was ranked 133rd out of 175 countries, your law minister, K. Shanmugam, described it as “absurd” and “disconnected from reality.”
Unfortunately, the facts show that we are right.
In the six years since you became prime minister and said you favoured an “open” society, we have seen very few improvements in the situation of free speech.
Holy Jesus! It's Sachiko's Sexy Bible Readings!
Is reading the Holy Bible too boring for you? Then let glamour model Sachiko McLean (link not safe for work) read it for you! In this first episode of Sachiko's Sexy Bible Readings, she provides us with a literal, word for word reading of the story of Lot from the New International Version of the Bible.
She says, "It does seem that when a lot of people first see me (or at least conservative types), they immediately think 'when it comes to brains, she’s got great tits', simply because I have big tits, and I am a nude model. So I thought it might be fun to really play up to this stereotype, and channel my inner bimbo, as I figured this would be a very funny and effective way to show up the absurdity of a lot of what is written in the Bible, as well as some of the utterly ludicrous contortions of logic people use to defend religious belief."
Thank god she didn't do this in nude!

The Google King: Havoc in China
I had to do a video story about Google's exit from China for Klik.TV but I wanted it to be really different from all the video reports that are out there. Luckily I came across the 1961 made in China animation Monkey King: Havoc in Heaven. Did the English subs and changed the title to The Goole King: Havoc in China. Enjoy!

Freeze Flash Mob at Causeway Point
I've filmed a few flash dance mobs (here, here and here) for Klik.TV but never a freeze flash mob so when I got a tip that there will be one at Causeway Point yesterday, me and my colleague Haren traveled all the way up north from our office at Lavender to film it.
So this is what happened. Causeway Point played Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment over their PA system and the participants froze in unison throughout the song, only to walk away and resume their activity when the song ended. Watch it on Klik.TV now!
